Revitalizing and take out a product from the comfort zone is not an easy task. Even when it is about the iconic wine of the winery, that represents the attributes and identity of it, capable of amalgamating its spirit and extend it to the others lines of the winery.

One of the main challenges was to work on the iconic symbol so that it stopped communicating in an abstract way and take it towards something figurative, warmer, that represents the tradition, the trajectory and the motto of “Passion and respect for earth” in which his spirit is based.

Regarding the label, we design it based on two main premises: on the one hand, leaving the comfort zone does not mean making radical changes but making the correct changes so that it achieves the new objectives, therefore, the trajectory was a value to maintain and it is reflected in the base structure of the label. On the other hand, to emphasize the main attributes of the winery, hence the change of color to a pure white, the incorporation of the legend of origin and the redesign of the symbol.

Andes is characterized as an innovative brand that is always testing different varieties. In this case a new proposal was made, beer with ginger.

We developed a strong code label beer that allow Ginger Lager to function as a special beer, original and out of the ordinary. We look to never lose sight of the brand historical consumer and at the same time to be able to capture the youngest audience. It was important to use colors , the typographical and formal choice to create that delicate balance where the two universes coexist. The 7% alcohol legend was highlighted to reinforce the unique character of this variety.

Blood & Moon, Fortune Telling Wine is an interactive wine label that is a modern day take on the traditional fortune telling "Tarot" cards. With this wine you can experience a creative reading from the cards depicted on the label, and learn more about their meanings.

I sought out to create an interactive wine label unlike anything before. I want the viewer to be fully involved in the interactive nature of this experience. When viewing the label, it taps into the darker side of packaging design to create a unique experience. Tarot readings have been around since the 1400’s, and this will be a new age take on the 22 classic “Major” Arcana cards.

All the symbols are hand-designed and completely original. The label depicts 22 tarot cards that will help guide the viewer to their fortune.

    Project Type: Produced, Commercial Work
    Client: Dayou Community
    Location: Taichung, Taiwan
    Packaging Contents: Rice
Packaging Substrate / Materials: Paper, wood, plastic

Stepping into the field of JIN TAN Golden Rice with the soft breeze gently caressing, the charcoal in the soil glistens among the swaying golden ears of rice. The research originally aiming to contribute the efforts to environmental protection has incidentally become the start of cultivating the non-toxic rice. The withered branches and twigs once not being valued have been transformed to be the natural protection after carbonization, enabling the JIN TAN Golden Rice to grow sturdily in a simple and pure environment.

After visiting the Dayou Community and understanding each procedure of the gestation of JIN TAN Golden Rice, Design Group extracts the element of charcoal to extend the bold and unrestrained feature and fortitude of the charcoal pencil, sprinkles and paints freely with the purest original intention of JIN TAN Golden Rice, and adopts the image representing the rice to implant into the brand identity, rendering JIN TAN Golden Rice the opportunity to pouring out the deeper emotions and expounding deeper significance through the details of design, and in the meantime allowing us to listen attentively to JIN TAN Golden Rice’s insistence on environmental protection via the temperature transformed by the design, and realize the touching feeling of simplicity in the process of cultivation together.

    Design: Revel Advertising
    Creative Director: Chris Jarratt
    Project Type: Produced, Commercial Work
    Client: Hammons Products Company
    Location: Springfield
    Packaging Contents: Black Walnuts
    Packaging Substrate / Materials: Plastic
    Printing Process: Flexography

Hammons Black Walnuts Feature Wild Harvest Story in Brand Refresh
Stockton, MO- Hammons Products Company located in Stockton, Missouri is the world’s largest processor / packager of Black Walnuts and recently underwent a brand refresh with a new package design.

The new packaging, which will hit retail stores this fall, showcases a brighter color palette than their traditional black packaging and features information that promotes the distinctive attributes of Black Walnuts. “There are several factors that differentiate Black Walnuts from English Walnuts and other nuts, and we wanted to showcase all of those unique features with a new, creative retail package design that will stand out on the shelves,” says Jacob Basecke, Vice President of Sales & Marketing for Hammons Products. “Black Walnuts are well positioned in today’s consumer trends. They are grown and sourced from the wild, have more protein than all other tree nuts, and are acclaimed by some of the world’s top chefs for their distinctive, complex flavors. It’s the perfect time to introduce Black Walnuts in a new, fresh way.”

The new packaging is white with “Black Walnuts” written in bold black. The packaging features half of a Black Walnut in its natural, green hull as it looks while it’s growing on the tree before it’s harvested. A window into the packaging makes up the other half of the Black Walnut, not only giving consumers a peek inside the packaging, but also at the Black Walnut, so they can see what the product looks like. Surrounding the image are characteristic call outs in a hand-written font that mirrors what one could imagine is a chef’s notebook, describing the attributes that make the Black Walnut stand out among other nut products (as discussed above). The back of the packaging tells the story behind Black Walnuts and introduces the consumer to the People of the Harvest. These are actual harvesters who pick up this wild crop each year. By reading the story of the harvest and the experience of the harvesters involved, the consumer is drawn a little closer to the source and is provided with the connection they’re looking for.

Harvesting, processing, and distribution of Black Walnuts is done primarily by Hammons Products Company, who has been in operation for over 70 years and is still a family-owned company. The main marketing emphasis for Black Walnuts has traditionally been showcasing it as an ingredient nut in fall/holiday baking and cooking. Today, in addition to more year-round usage, recent research on the health benefits of Black Walnuts shows them to be a beneficial addition to a healthy diet for a variety of reasons. These findings unpackage the potential for new markets and new consumers, giving Hammons another reason to update the packaging.

  • 10/09/18--21:48: Mr Kipling

  • Design: Robot Food
    Project Type: Produced, Commercial Work
    Client: Premier Foods
    Location: Leeds, UK
Packaging Contents: Cakes and Sweet Treats
Packaging Substrate / Materials: Cardboard, Plastic

Stacked with stale dated brands, the cake aisles of further afield proved a tasty opportunity for Premier Foods' International Team. Mr Kipling needed a confident international expression and Leeds-based strategic branding agency, Robot Food, were chosen to deliver.

For many in the UK, Mr Kipling’s range of iconic cakes holds a special place, but internationally the ‘exceedingly good’ brand is relatively unknown. Kimberley Tonge, Senior Brand Manager for International Sweet Treats at Premier Foods, said: “It was clear there was a great opportunity in both the US and Australia for Mr Kipling to provide a sophisticated, high-quality packaged cake, but entering as a challenger brand, Mr Kipling would need a bold new presence to compete."

In Australia, private label dominated 80% of the market share while the US preferred long-standing, nostalgic brands and own-label bakery treats. On both fronts, Mr Kipling could compete head-to-head on quality and freshness, so instead of relying on the brand’s UK-centric equity, Robot Food chose to focus on establishing Kipling’s creations as icons in their own right.

With no strong existing equity in the international market, the team could reinvent Mr Kipling as a true challenger, infiltrating a tired and old-fashioned category with a design that felt exciting and premium.

Martin Widdowfield, Creative Director at Robot Food, said, “we found most popular US products were actually pre-packed with super long shelf lives, but Australian consumers almost always preferred ‘just baked’. ‘Fresh quality’ was our common ground to work from and key to communicate.”

“Cake is the hero and, wherever possible, product shots are accompanied by prominent ingredients. We drew inspiration from European patisseries and chose bright pastels for a fresh, contemporary aesthetic over stronger bold colours that risked feeling artificial.”

To complement an ever-changing colour pallet, the classic Mr Kipling wordmark stands strongly front and centre on pack while straight-talking language brings a younger confidence to the brand. That’s right, the team chose to replace the famous strapline with a compelling reason to believe for a brand-new audience. ‘Make every day delicious’.

Initially intended as two separate executions, Robot Food chose to develop a more holistic expression with variations considered for each respective market. On the finished result, Tonge said “We love it, the design is still the brand without relying on nostalgia. It’s fresh and iconic.”

  • 10/10/18--22:58: BARDO Dried Squid

  • Design: CTNguyenNguyen_Jo Lavie
    Project Type: Produced, Commercial Work
    Client: BARDO
    Location: Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam
    Packaging Contents: Dried Squid, Seafood
Packaging Substrate / Materials: Kraft paper
    Printing Process: Digital printing

Bardo is a fresh seafood shop based in Ho Chi Minh City, Viet Nam. Bardo wants to have a new premium look on their packaging in upcoming Tet holiday for their special dishes: dried squid products. Bardo wants its products to have a Vietnamese traditional look and show respect and value of Vietnamese fishermen.

I came up with creating “Old Viet Nam” look and feel (Việt Nam Xưa), using the old, vintage fonts and colors. In Vietnam old time, moms got used to using slim mornings newspapers to wrap fresh food and things which help protect them. Thus, my idea is to use this feature to create this packaging using kraft papers with "newspaper alike" design.

"The newspaper papers" is covered with the informative articles about Bardo brand and product itself, such as: What Bardo values, the story of Vietnamese fishermen, what Bardo sells, where the products come from, how to well cook the dried squids, tips and tricks in cooking Bardo 's specialities. These info helps branding for Bardo and products themselves.
